Randy Douthit’s Work with Judith Sheindlin

Randy Douthit Randy Douthit worked magic while directing the television show Judge Judy starting Judith Sheindlin. This television show ran from 1996 to 2021. The show covered small claims between siblings, couples in disputes after separations or neighbors. Towards the end of the shows production, a new hurdle presented itself when the Covid-19 pandemic began in the year 2020.

Although Douthit is an experienced producer with two decades of work underneath his belt, he found creating new episodes of Judge Judy during the Covid-19 pandemic proved challenging and required adjustments to the everyday activities. He was transparent about the fact that the pandemic was quite a bit more costly than the standard production with the required safety procedures and additional testing. Also, once the pandemic started the studio worked to minimize exposure by removing the studio audience that one would normally see on the show.

After directing the beloved television show Judge Judy for 25 magical years, Randy Douthit has once again joined forces with Sheindlin to create another show that connects with the modern age through Amazon Freevee. This new show, called Judy Justice, has reached the top of the charts when it comes to its ratings upon the popular streaming channel. Judy Justice is Randy Douthit’s second journey into courtroom television and has embraced daytime television with new episodes provided every weekday rather than once a week. Judy Justice is now recording season three and is currently taking new case submissions.

Randy Douthit Although there are similarities between the two courtroom television shows, Douthit has expressed that a lot of work has been done to ensure that each show stands on its own. He wanted to ensure that Judy Justice was seen as its own entity. Steps were taken to ensure that aspects such as the size of cases, the look of the set itself and even the structure of the episodes differed from Sheindlin’s roll on Judge Judy.
