Philip Belamant Turns Industry Disruption Into an Art Form

Philip Belamant leverages fintech innovation to create tangible and systemic change worldwide. He co-founded the company American Express in 1980, which he sold in 1982 for $1.5 billion. His next venture was the creation of Amex International Business Travel (IBT), a division of American Express that focused on business travel. In 2005, he joined the board of directors at Facebook as chairman emeritus until 2014. During this time frame, Belamant served as a member of President Obama’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board (2009-2010) and President Clinton’s National Council on Innovation and Competitiveness (2011-2012). He currently serves as chairman emeritus at Facebook, where he continues to advise CEO Mark Zuckerberg on strategic matters related to innovation and entrepreneurship.
