In a groundbreaking philanthropic move, renowned alumnus Kelcy Warren has made an unprecedented $12 million donation to his
alma mater, the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). This transformative
gift not only stands as the largest single philanthropic investment in UTA’s
history but also holds the potential to propel the university to the forefront
of the rapidly expanding field of resource and energy engineering (REE). 

With an illustrious career as the Executive Chairman and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Energy Transfer LP, Warren recognizes the critical need for highly
skilled graduates who can navigate the complexities of managing energy
resources. In acknowledgement of this need, the donation will support the
establishment of a pioneering REE bachelor’s degree program at UTA. 

This visionary gift will create the Kelcy Warren Endowed Professorship in Resource and Energy
Engineering to attract world-class faculty members who will lead the program.
Additionally, two Kelcy Warren Endowed Faculty Fellowships will enhance the
educational experience for REE students. State-of-the-art laboratory spaces and
equipment will be established, fostering an environment where faculty and
students can collaborate on finding innovative solutions to pressing energy challenges. 

The Kelcy Warren Career Experience Center will provide engineering undergraduates with
invaluable experiential learning opportunities such as internships and co-ops,
ensuring they are well-equipped to excel in the industry. Scholarships, named
Warren Scholars, will support REE undergraduate students in pursuing their
educational goals, while fellowships, named Warren Fellows, will assist
engineering graduate students interested in energy industry careers.

Scheduled to launch in the fall of 2023, UTA’s REE program will be the first of its kind in the
United States, preparing graduates to apply engineering principles to the
