Getting patients to try RingMD was the easy part for Justin Fulcher. In parts of Southeast Asia where clinics were scarce and travel to see a specialist could take hours, a video call with a physician felt like an obvious upgrade, and people signed up quickly once the platform launched from its Singapore base.

Doctors were a different story entirely. Telehealth had circulated as a concept for decades, gaining ground only in scattered pockets where bandwidth, billing systems, and institutional habits happened to line up at the same time. In the early 2010s, that combination was rare, and many physicians treated the idea as unproven territory rather than a genuine opportunity worth their time.

Making the Case

Fulcher’s pitch to wary practitioners stayed consistent no matter the audience. Justin Fulcher described the service as an addition to normal practice, not a substitute for seeing patients face to face in a clinic or hospital. That framing mattered more than any feature list, since adoption depended on convincing doctors the tool would support their judgment instead of undercutting their authority.

The persistence eventually paid off. Justin Fulcher built RingMD into a marketplace that reached more than fifty countries at its peak, with roughly 1.5 million patient records and ten thousand healthcare providers connected through the platform. Clients ranged from national governments to hospitals, insurers, and pharmaceutical companies looking for new ways to reach patients.

A Notable Partnership

Among the deals Fulcher points to with particular pride is RingMD’s work with the Indian government through the Digital India programme, an effort to extend basic services into rural communities that had long gone underserved.
