Amy’s Kitchen: Renewable Energy and Vegan Options

Amy’s KitchenWhen you’re living a vegan lifestyle, it can feel as though finding fast food restaurants that aid to your culinary needs is next to impossible. However, with Amy’s Kitchen, there is a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. Amy’s Kitchen is a family-owned business that has grown in numbers over the years. Although a large number of employees have been gained over time, the company still holds onto that family mentality at their company. The company was founded by Rachel and Andy Berliner in 1987, the year their daughter Amy came into the world. In fact, the company itself is named after their daughter today. Andy searched for vegetarian and organic ready-made meals for his bed ridden pregnant wife but was unable to satisfy her cravings. In lieu of the difficulty to find these items, they made the decision to begin creating these types of meals on their own.

Their first creation was a Pot Pie that they made from scratch and sold locally near their home. From there, a company began to form. Their company went from only providing organic and vegetarian pot pies to include items such as soup and pizza and aided to other food allergies such as dairy and gluten.

Aside from aiding to food allergies and providing different delicacies, they also strive to maintain sustainable food item containers as well. Today, the company uses 75% of recyclable or compostable packaging containers for their creations. Currently, they are working on gaining that additional 25% to become either recyclable or compostable as well. With more than 52% of adults being curious about vegan meals, Amy’s Kitchen is proud to provide the best ingredients when it comes to vegan options.

Amy’s KitchenNow, the company has opened Amy’s Drive Thru just outside of San Francisco. Now all individuals looking for vegan eats on-the-go are able to make a stop at a fast-food location that aids to all types of food allergies. On top of that fantastic news, Amy’s Drive Thru is partly powered by solar energy that is ran by Amy’s living roof to reduce energy requirements.
