AIS Healthcare is the leading healthcare staffing firm in the country, with nearly 10,000 employees across 450 locations. We offer opportunities for anyone looking to find a home at our company, including individuals with disabilities and those who face unique barriers to employment.
We are dedicated to improving the lives of everyone that we serve with our employment programs tailored for individuals facing challenges such as physical or learning limitations.
Our core values are based on four guiding principles:
Integrity – We seek to live according to our highest integrity standards.
Enthusiasm – We strive to be highly enthusiastic.
Tenacity – We commit to hard work and perseverance.
Compassion – We seek methods of supporting both the individual and their families and those who support them.
These principles guide us in all we do, including our ongoing focus on safety and quality of life for those we serve. Our goal is that all human beings have access to the dignity, comfort, security, and opportunities they require to lead happy and fulfilling lives.
It became aware of the problem of the lack of trained employees with disabilities within healthcare when a person who experienced a Workplace Accident injury, who had completed his probationary period with AIS Healthcare, was seen by a Certified Nursing Assistant while in a wheelchair. The CNA believed this individual would be an additional liability to the facility’s safety and security system, as he was not permitted to drive his wheelchair on public roads.
To avoid this situation in the future and offer existing and future disabled employees at risk for similar incidents an opportunity for safe employment, it started developing its Diversity Employment Program in 2002. At its inception, the program required all participants to complete a comprehensive candidate assessment, including questions about their experience and ability to work in the healthcare field. They were also asked to describe relevant employment models for them and their families.
As part of this assessment process, candidates were then provided with a 100-question checklist to help them determine what kind of support they needed as they transitioned into their jobs to keep them safe. As part of this process, they also participated in a 30-minute orientation regarding what it means to work at AIS Healthcare; participants are trained on appropriate safety practices and protocols and how our workplace culture is different from other environments or industries.
