Roy Beck’s Achievements
Roy Beck is the CEO, president, and Founder of NumbersUSA Education and Research Foundation. He graduated from the School of Journalism at the University of Missouri and was among the country’s first environmental-beat newsprint journalists in the 1960s. Also, Mr. Beck got more than two dozen prizes for his environmental, company, and religion journalism during two periods as a newspaper reporter.
In 1991 Roy Beck became a permanent policy analyst of migration and U.S. population matters. He authored two books on migration which are “The Case Against Immigration” and “Re-Charting America’s Future,” and two books on public policy, ethics, and religion which are “On thin Ice” and “Prophets & Politics.”
In 1996, Roy Beck found NumbersUSA to carry out the migration recommendations of two national commissions, a presidential one presided by the previous Sen. Tim Wirth and the other a bi-partisan congressional one presided by the previous Rep. Barbara Jordan. In the 1990s, Mr. Beck’s piece of writing in the Atlantic Monthly on problems of immigration in a small town was among the most significant pieces of writing, selected by the Encyclopedia Britannica to be included in the Annals of America.
In addition, Roy Beck has appeared as an expert on immigration on many speaker’s forums, TV shows, think tank and meeting panels, radio programs, university presentations, and congressional hearings. In 1972, he was given the U.S. Army Commendation Medal.
Roy Beck’s history of volunteer leadership includes Multiple Sclerosis Society in Grand Rapids and Mich., Food or transportation migrants in Arlington and Va., clothing closets for central urban children in Dallas, United Methodist Sunday school teaching in Texas, Ohio, and Virginia, and nursing homes in Columbia and Missouri.
