Media Law Expert Damien Granderson

Damien Granderson’s career as an entertainment lawyer was launched after an encounter with death. The media law expert, who was a guitarist in a band in his 20s, had been pulled over for speeding when he crashed his car and died on impact.

Having graduated from Stetson University College of Law with a Juris Doctor degree in 1999, he was then a music attorney at the law firm of Robinson & Britton LLP. Damien Granderson primarily practiced entertainment law, which includes copyright, estates administration and limited liability companies.

His experience began when he worked for the legal department for The Rhett Miller Band until he began practicing at his own firm in 2004. At Robinson & Britton, he represented clients like Priscilla Presley and her estate and Michael Jackson’s estate among others. It was when Damien Granderson found himself face to face with the wrathful God of Judaism.

But then, inexplicably, Damien returned to life: “I woke up about two minutes later. It was when I figured out I must have died but I don’t know what people go through when they die. Like, I didn’t go through a white light” (Imdb).

Even to this day, Damien and his family will never really know what happened that evening in 1990. But from the moment he regained consciousness, he had a new outlook on life, and on death. “I kind of felt like I got a second chance,” Damien Granderson said. “I knew I had lost my band and my career at that time in my life and I had lost the woman that I was engaged to at the time as well.
